Double Chin Removal is an minimally invasive technique that involves usage of numbing injection under the chin and behind the ear and through the same points vaser facial probes (Like refill of ball point pen) are introduced through these points to deliver ultrasound energy.

Post Care:
- Chin strap to be applied for first 48 hours and then to be applied only at night for 3 weeks.
- Bruising cream like Arnica or Cicabio Arnica can be applied to decrease the bruisers. It generally takes 3 weeks to settle down but with this cream settles in a week’s time.
- Painkillers are not required generally but can be taken as and when required.
- Light massage after 3 weeks helps in smoother healing.
- Complete results show up in 3-6 months by that means complete internal healing and recovery of the swollen tissues.
- Though visible results are immediate but they keep on improving with time till 6 months.
The umbilicus is left in place without the need for a further incision. Liposuction may be combined with this procedure if the distribution of fat calls for this.
Other Techniques:
Dr Monisha Kapoor do not recommend other techniques for double chin removal because of following reasons:
Cryolipolysis
- The Cryolipolysis is a type of medical treatment generally done to destroy the fat cells in the body by freezing. It involves the non-invasive cooling of body fat to break down fat cells, resulting in a reduction of body fat. The effect takes several months to be seen.
- Cryolipolysis involves uses of rounded paddles in one of four sizes to suction your skin and fat while freezing it simultaneously.
- Dr Monisha Kapoor do not recommend this procedure for sculpting of lower face because artistic contouring as in vaser liposuction cannot be done as each face has a different structure (application of a geometric probe to all faces is aesthetically unjustifiable) and is a much inferior and crude technique for sculpting as and artist cannot paint with a brick he would always need a brush ( Cannula).
Mesotherapy
Here chemical substances are used to dissolve the fat under the skin again according to Dr Monisha Kapoor this technique is aesthetically incorrect as the solution we are putting in the double chin fat cannot be controlled in creating a particular shape and how much fat it dissolve is directly depend upon the volume of solution injected.
And moreover, the pain and swelling are more than vaser chin liposuction and this is the main reason why Dr Monisha Kapoor consider double chin liposuction.
In vaser chin liposuction the fat is removed simultaneously whereas in the other 2 procedure (Cryolipolysis and Meso) dead fat cells remain in the body to be removed by body’s own immune system. Dr Monisha Kapoor for that reason does not recommend the other 2 procedure because fat is not immediately removed and dead cells persist in the body for couple of months before the result appears as a surgeon, she believes in seeing a contoured face immediately on table and does not like to leave things on chance.
